Eight-year-old Gabriel loved soccer. So when his parents enrolled him in a special soccer camp being taught by a local church, Gabriel couldn’t wait to start.
That summer, a OneHope team visited the soccer camp and handed out the Book of Hope.
Gabriel loved the dramas the team presented and accepted Christ that very same day.
When Gabriel’s father, Oswaldo, came to pick him up, Gabriel told him that he had received a book about God. And his dad was eager to see his new book.
“After looking through the Book of Hope, I explained to my son that it was part of the Bible,” said Oswaldo, who had dropped out of church years ago. “I saw how much Gabriel liked the Book of Hope. He would draw in the book and it would make him smile. It made me begin to think about God.”
Soon after, a neighbor invited the family to come to church with her – the same church that offered the soccer program. The whole family went, including Oswaldo’s girlfriend, Monica, and their children — their lives were forever changed.
Monica got baptized, and soon after so did Oswaldo. With new dedication to follow God, the couple then got married and is now serving in the church.
