You couldn’t see their shackles, but the two young girls were heavily chained to the past.

And who could blame them? Violence ruled their home. Dad was often angry and abusive. When he finally “had enough” of the two young sisters and their mother, Dad abandoned the family in a rage.

Chained to the past. Heavy, binding chains of sorrow, regret, confusion and self-loathing. Karla and Jazmin sealed their hearts. No one would ever hurt them again.

But all of that would dramatically change the very moment Jazmin received the Book of Hope from our partner church in Mante City, Mexico. She couldn’t put it down!

Jazmin began to see that God had a purpose and plan for her life … and He loved her! She decided to dedicate her life to Christ.

Suddenly, there was a new joy in Jazmin’s heart and a smile on her face. Karla noticed the difference and was astonished. Could Jesus Christ make the same difference for her? Did He love Karla, too?

Today, both sisters have dedicated their lives to Christ and are involved in their local church. Jazmin and Karla are new creations — the past erased, the future transformed by the power of Jesus Christ!
