Darien was only in the 5th grade, but she felt like she had lived a……

Darien was only in the 5th grade, but she felt like she had lived a lifetime. She had been sexually molested, and the trauma of these events had left her feeling that she could trust no one.

She was frightened and filled with anxiety. For comfort, she turned to alcohol, which could make her forget her troubles, and smoking which dulled the pain.

Then our team came to the school with a Book of Hope for each student. Darien learned that there was someone she could trust: Jesus loved her, and had promised never to leave her or forsake her. She joyfully chose to follow Him — and immediately was set free from the desire to smoke and drink!
